Balto Jump Plus - Double Cruciate Knee Brace for Dogs

Does your dog need a double cruciate brace. If your dog goes lame in one of his hind legs, he may have torn or ruptured his cranial cruciate ligament, or CCL similar to the ACL in humans. This ligament connects the back of the femur (the bone above the knee) with the front of the tibia (the bone below the knee). The CCL is responsible for keeping the tibia in place beneath the femur and stabilising the knee joint. When dogs, especially larger breeds rupture or tear the CCL, if is not uncommon for the other knee to suffer a similar injury or partial tear, as its compensating for the lame adjacent knee. Your dog can wear a double knee brace to offer support to the bad knee, while supporting the good knee and preventing further injury. The balto double knee brace (Balto Jump Plus) has removable splints, so you can use the brace with higher level or lower level of support on each knee. The Double Cruciate Knee (BT Jump) brace for dogs is designed to support dogs with a double cruciate ligament injury, luxation of the patella, knee joint conditions such as arthritis and arthrosis and angular limb deformities. The double cruciate brace can be used both as an alternative to surgery, and in post-surgery. Each brace has two pockets which contain removable angled splints that restrict the movement of the knee when necessary.

BE AWARE: Dogs with a sore leg for several days or weeks tend to develop a sore back and will round it to reduce the pain. A round back will show a higher H value that the dog€™s normal height. A good massage on the back to relax it is also a great idea and they usually love it. If the back is still rounded then please measure H near the base of the tail or send us a picture of your dog with the tape next to him/her.

• During the period of restraint, it is advisable not to leave the dog alone for too long, because it might try to remove the brace by biting or scratching it
• Be careful of the band when applying the brace to a male dog. When wrapping the band around the pelvis, pass the band in front of foreskin in order to avoid compressing the urethra.
